Welcome to Lightwave!

What happens when you give paddles to a bunch of competitive and food loving professionals? They form Lightwave and compete locally and outside the Bay Area in the wet, intense sport of dragon boat racing.

Our team has been in existence since 1996 when dragon boat racing first became a sport in the Bay Area. We are a co-ed team and comprise of numerous nationalities. And although we practice hard and win racing trophies/medals, dragon boating is also an excuse for all of us to simply hangout and eat together after each practice session in Redwood City or San Francisco.

2007 End Of Year Party

2007 Treasure Island Race

The night lazily crept to the horizon's edge on the first day of the season's final race, as Lightwave paddlers headed to the Treasure Island. 2007 Fremont Sprint

Summer Picnic!

The dynamic social team has organized another fun social event: summer picnic in Foster City park last Saturday! The day started out to be overcast and cool. Everyone traveled great distances to get to the park, even as far as crossing the San Mateo bridge twice.
