Long Beach 2011: Return of the Watermelon Piñata
After a year’s absence, Lightwave traveled to Southern CA to meet its sister team, DPW, for the Long Beach Dragon Boat Festival. Despite disorganized race starts and tough heats against the likes of Suen Feng Loong, Space Dragons, and Dragon Warriors, Lightwave made it to the Division II-A finals.

Fastest Time For Lightwave In Vancouver
The team traveled to Vancouver, British Columbia for the 2011 Rio Tinto Alcan Dragon Boat Festival, and after two days of racing, placed fifth in Recreation Division A!

CDBA Regional Regatta Changes Date and Location,...
Moving the Regional Regatta from Paragon Point, Redwood Shores to Lake Merced, San Francisco (and rescheduling it to May 21) did not faze Lightwave, who paddled to a first place victory in Mixed Competitive Division C. 2010 SF Int'l Dragon Boat Festival
This year at the Treasure Island race, Lightwave rounded out the 2010 season with well-deserved SILVER medals in Recreational Division A, losing to the UC Davis Racing Dragons by a mere 0.5 seconds.

2010 Rio Tinto Alcan in Vancouver
Lightwave just wrapped up its first trip to Vancouver! After failing to finish the first qualifier race, we fought back to win not only the First Time Specialty race (2:19.300) but also the Recreational B championship (2:13.180)! 2009 End of Season Dinner

2008 Quarry Lake Sprint
Another strong performance in the Fremont sprint races this year. The team got hardware for 2nd place in Division C, thanks to refined paddling technique to get more power.

2008 Paragon Point Race
Despite tough competition, the team paddled their way to fourth place in Division C, just 0.17 s away from third palce. The time actually went up a good 7 seconds in the final race with adjustment in slower but stronger paddling rate.

Summer Picnic!
