Twas the night twenty four days before Christmas…
Not a paddler was practicing, not even a mouse.
The gifts were hung by the car trunks with care,
In hopes that carpool partners soon would be there.

The carpoolers were nestled all snug in their passenger seats,
While visions of gifts and potluck food danced in their heads;
And drivers in their seatbelts,
Had just settled down for a long winter’s drive to Casa de Joy.

So the debut Lightwave Event from the new management was ON!
Joy single-handedly organized the potluck dinner with game night and white elephant in her house. And it was awesome. People brought tasty and yummy appetizers, entrées, snacks and desserts such as falafels, potstickers, stuffed mushrooms, samosas, buffalo wings, brownies, cheesecakes, and best of all: Spring Onion Maui Chips.

This Spring Onion Maui Chips is easily the best food here.

Joy said, “Let there be games,” and there was Pictionary. And people played the Pictionary and it was fun! And Marilyn divided the men from the women to form opposing teams.

“Stickman!” “Ugly Drawing!” “Can only see your back!” “Is it all play?”

Early on, the men’s team was leading but the women took over in the middle of the game led by Kristy’s lucky guess streak. Few didn’t know the words they had to draw so they had to consult with Marilyn, the gamemaster. Later on, the men caught up and both teams ended on the final square. Women had the first chance but blew it. The men took over and finished the match decisively.

Masterpiece of the evening: “Monster” by Irene

After the men proved that they were the superior gender, the white elephant gift exhange was on. Numbers were assigned and the gifts were opened one by one. There were useful gifts, edible gifts, card gifts, interesting gifts, movie gifts, magical gift and the Gift With Lightwave Wrap.

Some had their gifts stolen quite few times till all gifts were opened except for the one. The Gift With Lightwave Wrap. There were more stealing going on until Rishi decided that it’s time to end this. He took the Gift With Lightwave Wrap and that was it!
