This year at the Treasure Island race, Lightwave rounded out the 2010 season with well-deserved SILVER medals in Recreational Division A, losing to the UC Davis Racing Dragons by a mere 0.5 seconds.

Lightwave also met new friends among the teams who combined paddlers to form a mens, two womens, and masters boats. Our thanks go out to DieselFish, VIO, and LifeScan, and congratulations to the Masters team for making the finals!

Once again, we hosted DPW from Long Beach, and were reunited with LifeScan from Vancouver, who joined us for an epic three-way watermelon eating contest.  LifeScan showed everyone in sudden death how one truly eats watermelon (blindfolded)!  DPW’s gigantic watermelon slice piñata was spared destruction when we were told to vacate Uncle Sam’s grassy field, but rest assured, Lightwave will be going at it with a wooden paddle at a later date.

All in all, this was a spectacular season for Lightwave, having placed in all four races we competed in this year. We grew tremendously as a team, and are confident that next year will be an even better one!
