Lightwave held its end-of-year celebration dinner at Silver Lake restaurant in San Mateo, where everyone had a fun time in the Babes of Lightwave contest to identify teammates from their baby pictures.

New officers for the next season were also announced. Please welcome the following:

Lightwave concluded another successful season with, what else, a delicious, celebratory meal. We feasted on Brazilian BBQ, and nominated individuals for the 2010 operations team. With this changing of the guard, we look forward to another year of hard paddling and food-filled social events.

As always, members are encouraged to recruit friends and invite them to try dragon boating when we resume practices next spring.  Go Waves!

Twas the night twenty four days before Christmas…
Not a paddler was practicing, not even a mouse.
The gifts were hung by the car trunks with care,
In hopes that carpool partners soon would be there.

The carpoolers were nestled all snug in their passenger seats,
While visions of gifts and potluck food danced in their heads;
And drivers in their seatbelts,
Had just settled down for a long winter’s drive to Casa de Joy.

The team ended 2006 with a bang: Potluck Party, White Elephant gift exchange, MVP ceremony and Game Night rolled into one! We even had some interesting sideshows going on.

MVPs (Most Valuable Paddlers) were awarded to Wendy, Alison, Jackie and Ray. They put in extraordinary efforts during the year so the rest of us bums can have tons of fun. The social team assembled a slideshow showcasing team events during the year. A copy-in-a-CD is available for $5 which profit will be put into team fund.
